On July 6, 2017, the Government of the Republic of Senegal signed a financing agreement with the World Bank for an amount of with the World Bank for an amount of 300 million dollars, to which was added 30 million from the European Investment Bank and more than 10 million dollars from the Senegalese government. In addition, the Project is seeking $30 million in funding from the Green Climate Fund. This funding is for the implementation of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Dakar (BRT), which is part of the Urban Mobility Reinforcement Program in Greater Dakar. The goal of the program is to increase the level of service of the public transport system within the Dakar agglomeration, to improve the quality and comfort of travel for users and to optimize the operation of the network. The project will be managed by the Executive Board of Urban Transport of Dakar (CETUD), which will act on behalf of the Ministry in charge of land transport, while the delegated project management is entrusted to AGEROUTE.
