The doubling of 372 km of priority national roads selected between Kasserine, Sidi Bouzid and Gafsa and the ports of Sfax and Gabes has been financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB), which (EIB), which has concluded a cooperation agreement with the General Directorate of Bridges and Roads of the Tunisian Ministry of Public Works of Equipment, Housing and Land Management (MEHAT), relating to the financing of the preliminary studies and APS of this project allowing to connect the three main towns of inland governorates with two ports of the Tunisian coastline. The present project consists in the modernization of the national network by doubling the existing roads of a total length of 178 km, the proposal of bypasses of the cities so as to have a transverse economic corridor East-West, with connecting Sfax, Sidi Bouzid, Kasserine and the Algerian border to Bou chebka.

Mission:

ASF Consulting has been assigned to conduct a Environmental and social Due Diligence for EIB. The mission consists in:

• Review of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments
• Review of the Stakeholder Engagement Plan
• Review of the Relocation Plan
• Preparation of the Environmental and Social Action Plan
• Elaboration of the report of the Due Diligence mission.
