Within the framework of the implementation of the country's Economic and Social Development Plans (2021-2016), a loan was signed between the Tunisian Government and the AfDB on November 30, 2016 to finance Phase II of the rural water supply program for the years 2016-2021 aiming at supplying drinking water to 372,000 inhabitants and improving the service rate to 97% by the end of 2021. The objective of the environmental and social compliance audit is to assess the level of compliance of the project with applicable E&S requirements over the period covering the start of the program until the end of the first half of 2020. The audit will focus specifically on assessing the degree of compliance with the provisions of the financing agreement, including national laws, regulations and procedures, the Bank's environmental and social requirements, and international best practices in the project sector. The audit will identify non-compliances, good practices and gaps, and recommend corrective measures and actions.
