On the basis of the design studies conducted in 2005 and 2006, the Agency for the Development of the BOUREGREG Valley was mandated and entrusted with the realization of the tramway project in partnership with the Municipalities of Rabat Salé. In February 2007, His Majesty King Mohammed VI launched the works for the realization of two tramway lines for the agglomeration, defining the main principles of the first phase until the start of service in early 2011. The operation of the first 20 km of the tramway network has been entrusted to TRANSDEV. The Rabat-Salé Tramway Line 2 extension project is part of a strongly renewed urban transport development policy and the restructuring of the city and its districts. The project aims to serve the dense districts of Yacoub El Mansour in Rabat, and Essalam, Moulay Ismail and Elkariat in Salé. With these extensions of about 7 km, line 2 will offer a total length of 15.5 km for 26 passenger stations.

Mission:

ASF Consulting has been assigned to conduct a Environmental and social Due Diligence for EIB. The mission consists in:

• Review of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments
• Review of the Stakeholder Engagement Plan
• Review of the Livelihood Restoration Plan
• Preparation of the Methodology for the analysis and evaluation of the impact of the Project on the land on the Salé side (Difference between Moroccan laws and the BEI standard)
• Preparation of the Environmental and Social Action Plan
• Elaboration of the report of the Due Diligence mission.
